“ . . .  Training frees a dog. My dog, being trained, is free--free to walk with me,
free to ride with me, . . . free to learn and run.
An untrained dog is ‘free’ to sit in the back yard,
where he can get into as little trouble as possible."

Good training is about good communication.

At GoodDog! Training, we offer positive, motivational training for you and your dog. Our focus is on the basic commands (sit, down, come, stay, walk on leash) that are the foundation for good behavior and for enhancing the special bond between you and your dog.  Are you dealing with “problem” behaviors, like jumping up, excessive barking, digging, pulling on leash, housetraining accidents, etc.? GoodDog! Training can help, with effective, positive solutions.  We offer ongoing group classes as well as private sessions.

Private classes
give you more scheduling flexibility and are a good choice if you're working on a specific behavior issue or if you think your dog would benefit from some pre-training before joining a group class.  For more information about private lessons, please click here.

Basic Obedience Class
Teach your dog everything s/he needs to know to be a good canine citizen! In this six-week class, your dog will learn all the basic commands, including sit, stay, down, and come. We'll work on canine social graces too, like walking nicely on leash and polit (no jumping!) greetings. And . . . we'll provide positive, effective training solutions for housetraining, digging, nipping, and barking.

Ballroom Dancing for Dogs Class
The Ballroom Dancing for Dogs class is based on canine freestyle, a dog sport that emphasizes teamwork between owner and dog. Learn simple dance moves (spins, weaves, twirls, etc.) that are guaranteed to turn you and your dog into a canine version of "Dancing with the Stars!" If you don't think dogs can dance, here's a famous canine freestyle routine that proves they can! Completion of a basic obedience class--or equivalent--is strongly recommended.

Group classes are offered at the Santa Fe Community College (SFCC), through the college's Continuing Education program.  Register online at www.sfccnm.edu or register with an enrollment specialist by phoning the college at 428-1270.

Group classes are also offered at Zoe & Guido's Pet Boutique, at 1441 Paseo de Peralta, across from "Chicago Dog". Register by calling Zoe & Guido's at 988-2500.

Classes are open to dogs and puppies (12 weeks and older) who are current on their shots.
